4-3

W 101 - 78 @Zappas

Big time win!

WR: My wideouts came up big this week with much of my top talent on a bye week.  The Cowboys' Miles Austin and Bills' Stevie Johnson both caught five balls this week; Austin for 97 yards and a score, Johnson for 71 and a score of his own.  New York Jet Jeremy Kerley had a career week with seven receptions for 120 yards against the New England Patriots.

Kerley's three biggest weeks have come against the Jets' AFC East divisional opponents, including week three, when he had a fifty-plus yard score against the Dolphins.  The Jets play the Dolphins again on Sunday, and with Stevie Johnson on a bye week, Kerley is a likely start.

D/ST: I would be remiss if I didn't mention Niners coach Jim Harbaugh's fourth-quarter decision to decline a safety with 43 seconds left on the clock, eschewing the two points in favor of ending the game.  Luckily this decision cost me a considerable amount less than it cost the Vegas crowd.

ON THE BENCH WEEK 8: Cam Newton, Felix Jones, Jets D/ST, Vic Ballard, Andrew Hawkins, 1 TDB

L 66-73 @Team Bothuck

A major blunder costs me game against the Division Leader in an embarrassingly low scoring affair

D/ST: Herein lies this week's major blunder.  I played the 49ers D against the New York Giants on Sunday.  The Niners gave up 26 total points to Eli Manning's offense, and did not force a single turnover. The Jets D/ST forced four turnovers (2 INTs, 2 fumbles) against Andrew Luck and the Colts, and sacked the rookie quarterback 4 times while yielding just 9 points to his offense.  Loss: 15 points

WR:  Two of my stud wideouts, Julio Jones and Miles Austin, combined for just 9 fantasy points this week.  SHP: Eric Decker, who caught 6 balls for 98 yards and a score.  Loss: 12 points

ON THE BENCH WEEK 7:  Peyton Manning (BYE), Michael Turner (BYE), Julio Jones (BYE), Eric Decker (BYE), Andre Brown, Jets D/ST, Andrew Hawkins

W 101-63 @Fantasy Holocaust 2K12

A last minute QB change pays off, and I get my third win

QB:  I decided Sunday morning to play Peyton Manning over Cam this week.  I felt that Peyton going against New England would bring out the best the displaced superstar has to offer.  Peyton threw for 345 yards and 3 TDs.   Cam threw for 141 yards and no scores, plus one lost fumble.  His forty two yards on the ground didn't help much this week.

RB:  The Bears' Matt Forte returned from a leg injury for his first 100 yard rushing game of the year.  Michael Turner did his part with 67 yards rushing and a TD.

WR: Added two new WRs: the Broncos' Eric Decker (Peyton Manning's favorite target) and the Bengals' Andrew Hawkins.  Started Hawkins this week.  Shouldn't have.  SHP the Jets' Jeremy Kerley, who caught 5 balls for 96 yards.  Loss: 5 points

ON THE BENCH WEEK 6: Cam Newton (bye), Matt Forte (bye), Eric Decker, Jacquizz Rogers, Jets D/ST, Jeremy Kerley, +1 RB TBD

2-2

W 99-82 @Ham Sandwich

In which -- I bench Cam Newton on a career day, play with no Tight End, and still somehow come away with a victory.

Roster Update Blast #2

dropped TE Fred Taylor (WAS)        added TE Heath Miller (PIT)
dropped RB Jon Dwyer (PIT)            added WR Eric Decker (DEN)
dropped RB Mike Tolbert (CAR)      added RB Jacquizz Rogers (ATL)
dropped WR Brandon LaFell (CAR) added WR Jeremy Kerley (NYJ)

Heath Miller is the third rated Tight End in my league, and with two losses against me already this year, I needed to make a move.  I dropped Washington's Fred Taylor, who has underperformed for fantasy owners so far this year.  Each team can carry only one Tight End in my league, so someone dropped Heath because he is on BYE this week.  Well, I needed to upgrade bad enough that I gambled, picked him up, and put him in my starting line-up in a null week.

Also dropped the Steelers' Jon Dwyer and got a receiver who's emerging as one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets in Denver, Eric Decker.

D/ST: I say it ever year: Defense/Special Teams never gets enough love on the blog.  The 49ers D/ST leads the proceedings this week, though.  0 points allowed, one INT, three fumbles recovered, and three sacks.  They've been touted as the best defense in the league and they showed why this week.

QB:  Cam Newton had himself a marvelous day; tossing for 200+ yards and 2 TDs.  He ran the ball nine times for 86 yards and another score in his Panthers' loss to Atlanta.  As stated up top, he did all this from my bench.  Luckily, Peyton Manning was on fire this Sunday too, throwing for 353 yards and three scores.  Loss: 5 points

Cam Newton Rushing TD Official Scoreboard: 3

RB: With Matt Forte limited in practice all week, and listed as a game time decision for his teams' Monday Night game against Dallas, I had to leave him on the bench.  My hope is that he will be back next week against Jacksonville. And with a Bye in Week 6, he should have time to heal and still score a lot of touchdowns.  I was fortunate to have the Falcons Michael Turner in my line up, who ran for 113 yards, plus caught three balls for 68 yards and a receiving TD.

WR:  New man Eric Decker caught 7 balls for 79 yards and a TD.  He'll fit in nicely in the coming Bye weeks.

ON THE BENCH WEEK 5: Peyton Manning, Jacquizz Rogers, Miles Austin (bye), Kevin Ogletree (bye), Jeremy Kerley, Jets D/ST, 1 TBD
